Assalamu Alaikum, Welcome to Government Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Shahjalal Uposhahar , Sylhet. This is the only government Medical College in Bangladesh offering Diploma in Unani Medicine and Surgery , affiliated with Bangladesh Boards of Unani and Ayurvedic Systems of Medicine. This College Started its journey as Tibbia College , Sylhet from 1945 at Zindabazar then shifted its Campus at Chalibondor from 1983 to 2012. Thereafter, from 2012 the college continued its activities in one acre area of land having a green field campus and excellent academic atmosphere at Shahjalal Uposhahar, Sylhet. It has two storied building having academic activities and out door services. The campus is also enriched with Herbal Gardens. The old campus at Chalibondor has been used as male hostel since 2012, after shifting of academic activities to the new campus. It is to be mentioned that the college was renamed as Government Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College, Sylhet in 2016.

The primary Goal of this college is to provide quality education in the field of traditional medicine and to produce skill professionals in this fields to serve the people from all walks of life with easily available , cheap indigenous medicine . Our future plan is to extend the academic activities by starting BUMS & BAMS courses.

Our endeavour is to develop this college as a centre of learning , research and creator of knowledge and also to bring traditional medicine to evidence based science.
